Start with the existing home
Current windows, air leakage, insulation, orientation, shading, local climate, thermostat habits and energy prices all affect a home's results. A selected percentage above does not model those conditions.
A clearer window conversation
What would a change in heating and cooling spending mean for your household? Use your own costs and choose a hypothetical reduction to see the arithmetic.
This is an educational scenario, not a prediction for your home or a promise about AWI windows.
Understand a possible change
Use the annual amount spent on heating and cooling your home. Lighting, appliances, water heating and fixed utility fees are outside this calculation.
Use a utility breakdown or home energy assessment. Include all heating and cooling fuels. If you only know your whole bill, keep exploring the website rather than treating the whole amount as heating and cooling.
Enter your own scenario or choose an example below. Examples are arithmetic inputs, not expected savings or product ratings.
This tool accepts $0–$100,000 and 0–100% for arithmetic exploration. Those input limits do not describe a typical home or a realistic window savings range.
Your inputs stay in this page. Nothing is saved or sent to AWI.
No assumed savings
Enter an annual heating and cooling cost, choose a hypothetical percentage, then calculate. A zero-percent scenario is welcome too.
Your selected assumptions
Monthly figures are annual averages, not seasonal bill forecasts. Amounts are rounded to cents. No energy-rate changes, financing, installation cost, rebates or payback are modeled.
This result is not an AWI quote, an energy assessment or a product-specific savings estimate.
Put the calculation in context
Current windows, air leakage, insulation, orientation, shading, local climate, thermostat habits and energy prices all affect a home's results. A selected percentage above does not model those conditions.
ENERGY STAR recommends checking the product certification for your climate zone. Ask AWI to confirm the exact product, configuration and documented ratings in your proposal. This page does not establish that any AWI product is ENERGY STAR certified.
DOE's window guide highlights climate, orientation and installation, and recommends considering insulation and air sealing. An individual assessment can help identify which improvements make sense for your home.
Annual scenario reduction = your annual heating and cooling cost × your selected percentage ÷ 100. Monthly average reduction = annual scenario reduction ÷ 12. Annual remaining cost = entered annual cost − annual scenario reduction.
The calculator does not choose a savings percentage from a national average, a window heat-loss statistic, your ZIP code or a photograph. In particular, a percentage of heat gain or loss through windows is not the same as the percentage a household will save after replacement. No guaranteed savings or payback is implied.
Inputs stay in this page's memory. The calculator does not save or send them. Clear inputs removes them from this page. This feature does not use cookies, local storage, analytics, AI services or background requests.
These resources explain product selection and the factors behind energy performance. Their published savings examples concern stated study conditions and are not used as this calculator's assumptions.
